Lineage & provenance

Why does this value look like this?

Lineage shows how assets depend on each other. Provenance goes further: every field of every record carries its source, fetch time and run id. Click a value and see its full story.

Per-value provenance

Every field knows where it came from

Provenance is not a report you build later. It is stored with the data at write time. When two sources disagree and one wins, the losing value and the reason are recorded as well.

  • Source, connector and fetch time for each field.
  • The run id, so you can open the exact run that produced it.
  • The raw payload that contained the value.
  • The previous values and when they changed.
